01How much does a pole building cost?
Every project is priced to its specs, but most post-frame shops and garages land between $20 and $35 per square foot depending on size, wall height, doors, insulation, and site conditions. The fastest way to a real number is a free, no-obligation estimate.
02How long does it take to build?
A typical 30x40 shop takes 4-6 weeks from permit to completion. Larger commercial or agricultural buildings may take 8-12 weeks. Weather, permitting timelines, and custom features can all affect the schedule, so we'll give you a realistic timeline upfront.
03What is the standard time frame, start to finish, for a CDA Structures project?
CDA Structures, Inc. is geared up and ready to build with our numerous in-house and sub-contractor crews. With every project there is a process. On a residential project this typically consists of 7-10 working days for the design and engineering and 14-21 working days for the county specific permitting process. Some counties are faster than others and some are much slower. After permit approval we will schedule the delivery of the materials to your job site and schedule the crew's start date. Some building projects can take as little as one week while others that are more involved can take longer to complete. The time frame for your specific project will be explained in detail by your sales representative.
04What type of payment schedule does CDA Structures offer?
We follow the golden rule of the BBB payment process for construction. Once the sales contract is signed, we require a deposit that consists of 10% of the building cost. Upon delivery of the materials, we will invoice another 50% to cover those costs. After the framing has been completed, the third installment of 30% will be invoiced with the remaining balance due upon completion. The balance due will include any change orders and/or upgrades if applicable. It is also important to note that some projects can deviate from this payment schedule outline.
05Do you handle permits and engineering?
Yes. We coordinate stamped engineering plans and pull permits for your jurisdiction. Our team is familiar with building departments across North Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Western Montana.
06Can I work with CDA Structures to design my own building?

09Post frame, all steel, or conventional: which is right for me?
Post frame is the most cost-effective for large clear-span buildings (shops, barns, arenas). All-steel is ideal for maximum durability and fire resistance. Conventional stick-frame works best for finished living spaces or complex rooflines. We'll help you choose based on your use case and budget.
10What areas do you serve?
We build across North Idaho (Coeur d'Alene, Hayden, Sandpoint, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Bonners Ferry), Eastern Washington (Spokane, Spokane Valley), and Western Montana (Kalispell, Missoula). If you're nearby but not listed, give us a call and we may still be able to help.
11What is a barndominium?
A barndominium is a post-frame building that combines finished living space with shop or garage space under one roof. The structure goes up the same way as a shop, with posts, trusses and a steel skin, but part of the footprint is framed, insulated and finished as a home. The remainder is left open for vehicles, equipment or a workshop. The split between living space and shop is yours to set.
12How finished is the living space when you hand it over?
That is decided per project. Some customers take delivery of a weathertight shell with the living end framed and roughed in, then finish the interior themselves or with their own trades. Others want the home side turned key. Tell us where you want to stop and we will scope the build to that line, so what is and is not included is in writing before anything is ordered.
13Can I add to or finish the building later?
Absolutely. Many customers start with a shell and add insulation, electrical, plumbing, or interior finishes over time. We can also design lean-to additions or future expansion bays into the original structure so adding on later is straightforward.
